Bappi's tribute to Kishore Kumar: It's Rocking Dard-E-Disco
After Ooh La La, the king of disco is back. As Disco King DK, Bappi Lahiri is now playing himself in Dhumketu Punatar’s musical comic caper. It’s Rocking Dard-E-Disco, directed by Ashok Tyagi. The film sees Bappi da in a lovable role of DK aka Disco King who gets kidnapped for his gold. And instead of being worried at the kidnapping, DK takes it upon himself to give the villain’s adda an architectural makeover. And is supported in this task by the villain’s cronies who are his diehard fans.
For the film, Bappi da has chosen to bring back to life his oldtime hit Yaad Aar aha Hai. And with it, another superlative number that the veteran composer feels will be the chartbuster after Ooh La La.
Titled Boka Chor, the song will be premiered on December 25 on youtube by Saregama, which has acquired the worldwide music rights of the film. An interesting number that aims to touch the chord across the country bringing in the disco very back!, Boka Chor has multi-lingual lyrics… there in Hindi, English, Bengali and Tamil. Boka Chor is a very sweet song that talks of how when one does not get his love, he should simply go in for Dard-E-Disco.
Dhumketu Punatar says, “Bappi da was very enthusiastic to record a song after Ooh La La. And Boka Chor from Dard-E-Disco that is ready to release, was a very interesting number. And I felt we should go in for the making on youtube as Bappi da’s songs are youthful and more than touch a chord with youngsters.”
Bappi da adds, “it is four decades since I entered the film industry as composer. And it is the love of the people that has kept me going. I was touched by the response to Ooh La La and it was a shocker when Victoria’s Secret used my song or their rampwalk even! Now, I look forward to the same love from my audiences of Boka Chor.”
The video goes thus… Asrani questions Bappi da on why he is a ailure in love. And Bappi da tells him that it is because he is a “…boka chor, boka chor, boka chor, dil ka chor… nee oru muttaal…”
Bappi da admits that he is influenced by his uncle Kishore Kumar. “Kishore da is a great inspiration. I am not even one-tenth of him in acting, but I wanted to make audiences laugh like him in this film with my humour. And this is my tribute to Kishore da,” says emotional Bappi da.
Here is looking forward to Bappi da’s Boka Chor Christmas gift hitting youtube this December 25. The music of Dard-D-Disco is with Saregama. And as we read this, there is one more Bappi da chartbuster that is hitting the movies as a remix… Check it out…

I love bikes, but not more than women: John
John Abraham, who was recently in the capital for Van Heusen store launch, revealed all about his relationship status, chiselled body and of course his love for motorbikes and women.
John's action hero avatar
After Dhoom, I haven't done any action film. People asked me why you haven't attempted any action film when you have the physique and the body for it. Force is my answer to a lot of people out there who finally want to see the action hero. The film has great content, song, dialogues and screenplay.
Beefed up avatar
I have undertaken special training for this film. When we finalised the film, my director Nishikanth Kamath told me you have 8 months to build up a body that looks international, like a machine, like Sylvester Stallone. So with Force, we have tried to create a look that is unbelievable in terms of physique.
Every actor is visually fit today and has a presentable body. Cinema is a visual medium. I have always been fit, right from my first film Jism. Now there is a new concept of abs- 6 pack, 8 pack.
Similarity with original
When Vipul Shah showed me Kaakha Kaakha one-and-a-half years back, I really liked it. There's a lot of difference in this and the original. We have kept the romance portion same but we have converted it into an action film to a large extent.
Lifting a heavy bike
It was just a 110-120 kilos bike very honestly. ACP Yashwardhan is supposed to be like a machine, very powerful who can lift and break anything. That's my character in the film. That's why I had to lift the bike. You need cables to balance it but finally you need your strength to lift the bike and throw it. So yeah, I have thrown the bike. If someone upsets me, you know what will happen (laughs).
Message in Force
There's a lot of similarity between me and my character. He's a narcotic bureau officer, totally anti-drugs. Personally, I don't believe in drugs. People who do drugs are escapists. I want to tell my young audience that drugs are the most dangerous thing, more than smoking and drinking. Cocaine destroys your system completely. That's the message we want to give to through the film.
Your body is your temple. Eat right, work-out right. Don't do drugs. It's not fun, it's not right. A healthy lifestyle is very important.
Chemistry with co-stars
My chemistry with all my co-stars, be it Genelia (Force), Katrina (New York) or Vidya (Salaam-e-ishq), usually works onscreen. I have a sizzling chemistry with Abhishek Bachchan and Akshay Kumar also. Good chemistry is important for a good film.
Cop fever in B-Town
It's co-incidental that we are all playing cops in our films. A film is planned a long time back, so it's just a co-incidence that these films are releasing one after the other. Salman and Ajay's films have done unbelievable business and I hope that I can do at least decent business.
Movies in the pipeline
After Force, I'm doing a comic flick with Akshay- Desi Boyz (6 years after Garam Masala), Housefull 2 with Akshay again, Race 2 with Saif, another sequel Shootout at Wadala and I, Me Aur Main which is about a guy who loves himself more that he loves women. But I am not like that character.
Bikes or ladies
I love motorcycles but not more than women (laughs). Women are the most beautiful creation of mankind.
Enjoying singledom
I am happy that I have time by myself. When I get married, it'll be different. Hopefully I'll get married someday. Till then, I'm enjoying my space and time.
After I got into acting, I have not spent enough time with my parents. When we get busy with our careers or get into relationships, we don't give our parents enough time. So now I'm spending as much time with my parents as possible to make up for the lost time but you can never make up for it.
Every relationship in your life matures you as an individual. So now I'm a much more matured individual.
On terror attacks
If we look within our own country, there's a big terror problem. It happened in Delhi recently and in Mumbai before that. I hope the government is doing what they can. There are serious security lapses. The common man suffers the most. We have become insensitive to what is happening. We need to get serious about it and the government needs to pull up their socks. As individuals, we need to be serious and vigilant and look around. If you notice, after 9/11, there has been no attack in America. Can you imagine the level of security they have. Government and we as citizens should be more complacent.
On Van Heusen
When V Dot came to me, they knew what my personal statement is. The colours I'm wearing now, gray trousers and blue jacket, it's very understated and yet it makes a style statement. There have absolutely simple designs, some are bling but still they are very classy. I'm actually comfortable in what I'm wearing. And I wouldn't say that for a lot of other clothes and what other people wear. My whole wardrobe is by them.

Top Ten Movies : ‘Ready’ Salman, Asin
We’ve seen Salman Khan and Asin’s sizzling chemistry in Ready.
In case you are still oblivious to it, catch a glimpse on YouTube Boxoffice. Off screen too Sallu bhai is all praise for Asin’s frankness and bold behavior. So much so that he termed Asin as his dream girl, and provoked us into thinking whether something was brewing between the two stars. But then we saw Salman getting a tad-bit friendlier with Zarine Khan and we shrugged the Asin-Salman alleged romance as just another rumour. But what continues to amaze us is the great bond that Asin and Salman share. Industry insiders say that Asin can go to any extent to keep her good friend, Salman, happy. So, when Asin was shooting with Salman in Thailand for the film Ready, Sallu dared her to eat a creepy insect. While this did raise eyebrows, what followed was really shocking! Asin, in keeping with her daring image, promptly popped the insect in her mouth without wasting any time!

Shahrukh and Salman Khan in ‘Revolution 2020′?
Cineswami wants Shahrukh and Salman Khan in the film based on Chetan Bhagat’s Revolution 2020, but he’d rather not read the book!
Chetan Bhagat may be derided by the literati for writing barely literate novels that are clichéd and riddled with errors and that’s precisely why Bollywood seems to want to get into bed with him at every opportunity. Barely has the rumour about Rockstar Imtiaz Ali doing an adaptation of 2 States with his current pet Ranbir Kapoor settled, comes the news of yet another adaptation and this time it is official. UTV has snapped up the rights of Bhagat’s latest mass-market novel Revolution 2020, with a view to turning it into a feature film.
UTV Motion Pictures CEO, Siddharth Roy Kapur aka Mr Vidya Balan says, “We have been in discussions with Chetan for a while to do something together. When he shared his latest book with us even before it was published, we read it cover to cover in a single sitting. It’s simply unputdownable.”
“He has crafted such a dramatic plot with such sharply defined characters that you’re constantly wondering how things will play out. The issues he deals with in the book are those today’s youth will instantly relate to and identify with. We’re very excited to work with him on making a great film from what we all believe is a great book,” Kapur gushes.
Bhagat loves the idea of being in bed with UTV. “Yes, UTV finally managed to seduce me. A great offer, immense excitement about the story and a wonderful team with a track record makes me feel they can do justice to Revolution 2020, a story very close to me and the readers’ hearts,” he purrs.
The book follows the ups and downs in the lives of three friends, Gopal, Raghav and Aarti in Varanasi. Bhagat is already exhorting the Twitterverse to give casting suggestions for the three characters. Of course, that would mean actually reading the book and that should be pretty easy, even for the meanest intellect. Not having actually read the book, and having no plans to do so ever, Cineswami is happy to suggest a grand reunion of Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan with a new face to play Aarti. Perhaps Imtiaz Ali can help as he has now successfully introduced two new female faces (both imported) in Love Aaj Kal and Rockstar.
Lest we forget, Bollywood’s biggest hit of all time, 3 Idiots, is very loosely based on Bhagat’s Five Point Someone and he had a very public spat with Aamir Khan and Vidhu Vinod Chopra on the scant credit given to him. That’s why Aamir may not be a good idea to play one of the leads in Revolution. On the other hand, Salman had a guest appearance in Hello, based on One Night @ the Call Centre, but the film bombed anyway.
This is a good place as any to insert a Groucho Marx quote on reading, with reference to Bhagat, of course – “From the moment I picked your book up until I laid it down, I convulsed with laughter. Someday I intend on reading it.” Except of course, Cineswami won’t.

Ra.One - Bollywood Film Review Videos
For almost a year ahead of tonight's official release of Shah Rukh Khan's sci-fi/superhero event film, Ra.One, the man himself has been working his fingers to the bone building up this night to be a game changer for Hindi cinema. Ra.One is the most expensive Indian film to date, much of the budget put forward by SRK's own production house, Red Chillies. The film was initially slated to release in early June, but massive post-production demands pushed the release back four months, well into October and the heart of the Diwali season, Indian film's equivalent of Memorial Day weekend. All of this hype started to feel a little bit overwhelming as scores of people like started to wonder if perhaps Ra.One could never live up to the massive expectations it had created. I'm happy to say, though, that the film largely lives up to the hype and is a rousing and often breathtaking spectacle that not only marks a high water mark for Hindi film, but also for contemporary international action film.
At its core, Ra.One is a story about a father and his son. The father, played by SRK in a ridiculous looking curly wig, is Shekhar Subramanium, a video game designer in London who is a lovable geek. The son, Prateek, is played by newcomer Aman Verma. Prateek is a typical pre-teen who wants nothing to do with his geeky Dad, and he escapes by jumping into the world of online gaming under the handle Lucifer. Shekhar does everything he can to win Prateek's affection, but it isn't until he takes his son's suggestion of creating a game with an unbeatable villain, that Shekhar finally becomes cool in his son's eyes. This being a sci-fi film, this unbeatable villain, named RA.One (short for Random Access Version One and a play on Ravaan, the demon lord of the Ramayana), breaks out of the mainframe and comes looking for the last person to defeat him online. Who could that be? Why, it's Lucifer of course, and the chase is on.
The first half of the film faces occasional hiccups in the form of some overly broad acting from SRK's nerdy Tamilian, Shekhar. However, this is all in the service of rendering Shekhar a sympathetic character, and is well within the bounds of typical Bollywood masala. SRK does overly broad well, his character of Suri in 2008's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was similar in many ways to Shekhar, and it was one of his more successful performances. However, for the uninitiated, Shekhar's bumbling may be a bit off-putting. He is balanced well by an uncharacteristically good performance from Kareena Kapoor, of whom I'm usually not a huge fan. Kapoor plays Shekhar's wife, Sonia, and her performance contains all of the subtlety required to keep SRK from spinning out of control. They have good and palpable chemistry on screen, and Ra.One definitely benefits from that.
As the film nears it's intermission around 90 minutes in, the real fireworks begin. A first half bombshell drops that lands the Subramanium family in a heap of trouble, and as Ra.One attempts to find and destroy 'Lucifer', G.One makes the leap into the real world to act as their protector. For the next 90 minutes or so, the action comes hot and heavy and it is quite impressive to say the least. Right before the intermission, we get a little taste of what a Ra.One/G.One showdown would look like, and it made me a bit giddy. Cars fly all over the place and to call the action ambitious would be an understatement.
The temptation with a film like this is to call it a benchmark for Indian action cinema, which is certainly is, but the fact is that the film and its effects are effective regardless of their origins. Ra.One is a stunning action film, with stunts that would hold up with the best of any Hollywood action film. They did things to the streets of London that would have never imagined I'd see in a Bollywood film, but here they are, and they look good! There is major devastation in every corner of the frame, and the CG is light years ahead of anything to come out of India so far, and on par with anything I've seen anywhere, save Hollywood.
Last night in my review of 7aam Arivu, I lamented the inclusion of a romance in a film that didn't require one. Tonight, with Ra.One, all of the emotion that the film delivers serves the story both in terms of plot development and theme, and it is very seldom gratuitous. Major action films with heart are few and far between, and Ra.One delivered beyond my expectations in that department. Apart from the explosions, superhero stunt work, and computer generated fireballs, there is feeling here, and characters that elicit sympathy. Yes, it is goofy at times, but it never tipped over the line to ridiculousness for me.
Ra.One takes all of the tropes of Bollywood and meshes them into a modern story in a way that is engaging and propulsive. There are several uptempo songs, and yes, even a couple of spontaneously choreographed dances, but they are well integrated into the narrative. There is a particularly awful mangling of Stand By Me in the form of the song Dildaara, but even it manages to deliver an emotional punch potent enough to be forgivable. The film casually veers back and forth from comedy to action to sci-fi, but it does so in a way that is entertaining and never too jarring. They even manage to squeeze in a cameo from Superstar Rajnikanth himself playing Chitti the robot from Enthiran following a south Indian styled brawl in an airport parking lot. You know what? It worked!
There was a fear that writer/director Anubhav Sinha had bitten off more than he could chew with Ra.One. Sinha is a director with a couple of minor successes and a couple of flops on his record, so taking on a project of this magnitude was a big risk for everyone involved. I'm happy to say that in my eyes, he's succeeded in a grand and captivating way. Ra.One contains just enough Bollywood that it may have newbies scratching their heads a few times, but for the brave ones who stick it out, I think there is a lot of fun that can be had with this film. I was starting to fear that the marketing would be a poison pill for this film, rendering the expectations unattainable. Is this film the best ever made? Certainly not. What it is, though, is a supremely entertaining action adventure that should be able to cross language lines and find fans in any community.

Don 2 Bollywood Movie 2011
It's a bit perplexing to see just how young, fit and fresh Shah Rukh Khan looks in the promos of his films. We saw the glaring gulf between the way he looked in the Ra One promo earlier this year and the way he looked on TV with Karan Johar or supporting his IPL team, and now we see him again, looking lethal in the first trailer for Don 2. Maybe those who do makeup and CGI for Rajnikanth are working their magic in SRK's films, or maybe King Khan only saves up his shininess for when it counts the most.
Either way, the Don 2 trailer looks pretty darned sharp. We see a speedboat slice through verdant green waters as Khan, in over-baritoned voiceover, tells us that his enemies thought he was dead and now he's back and ready for more. We catch peeks of Khan in tattooed longhaired Bangkokjunkie/underpaid chinesevan waiter mode, both of which make sense as a disguise while the wounded tiger licks his wounds. A word about the voice, though: in a sequel to a film where he stepped into Amitabh Bachchan's shoes -- which seemed a couple sizes too big for him at the time -- this voiceover seems to be yet another tribute from Khan, trying to sound a bit like that man who keeps proving he'll never be too old.
And then, just as he uses up all the gravel in his throat mouthing the 'remember who I am, I'm the Don' lines from that classic song used smartly here as dialogue, he smiles and says 'boom', a car explodes on cue, and then it's Shah Rukh all the way.
The rest is standard blockbuster fare, explosions and slow motion turns to the camera, maximised for dramatic effect. But there's absolutely no mistaking the fact that this film looks very, very slick indeed. Clearly Farhan Akhtar's out to prove a point, and so far, he looks like he knows what he's doing. Wish they didn't throw in the weird Khan smirk at the very end, though.
What do you think of the Don 2 trailer? Do you think SRK will give us the year's biggest blockbuster with Don 2 or Ra.One? Do you think director Farhan Akhtar, who has given us unforgettable films like Dil Chahata Hai and Lakshya, and Don will be fourth time lucky?

Dabangg 2 is having a good script says Salman
Since Abhinav Kashyap, the director of Dabangg, is now out of the picture, too much burden has fallen on the shoulders of the producer Arabazz Khan , Salman’s brother.
“Arbaaz has penned it (the script) himself and it's a mind-blowing script,” Salman is quoted to have said.
Salman has been busy wrapping up the patchwork of his much-awaited Eid release Bodyguard. After its release, he will start shooting for Ek Tha Tiger with Katrina Kaif. So Dabangg 2 won’t go on the floors before 2012
